Food security for Africa through Innovative ideas in Agriculture management

Africans major need is food for its teeming populist. malnutrition accounts for over 20.2% of the world value. Agriculture which should have been the panacea is bedeviled with primitive technology, poor governmental policy, naivety of its farmers to embrace mechanized agriculture.

Now the critical question is how can you bring Africa out of this agricultural quagmire? Any great idea must take into cognizance the above factors to developing a strategy that will stand the test of time. In Nigeria for example, it took the dynamic strides of guts and vision for Mr. Adewumi Adeshina, former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development as themed by Nigeria to introduce the Agriculture Value Chain concept. The program Agricultural Transformation Agenda (ATA) looks
at Agricultural Crops, livestock and fishery that Nigeria has comparative advantage with its farmers and create linkages to off-takes like factories, processors and industrialist who add value to the agro product. Great hubs for farmers, marketers, processors and storage facilities to collaborate and transact business are being constructed to drive the program.  Aside from several resistance from farm folks that are against change. The policy worked wonders, though we still hear of hiccups here and there which can be attributed to human factors during implementation. The idea revolutionized how Nigerian farmers and its government view agriculture not as "developmental" as it was previously practiced but as a "business" with profit and agricultural value addition at the back of the investor. 

The building block structures of the Agricultural Transformation Agenda to fully actualize the plan were still at varying stages of been set up. it is hoped that the  new government of President Mohammadu Buhari will up scale the program.

The big Question is whats next ......... what is the next best thing to be adopted that will cause Agricultural "Change" in the continent.
